I am a jeweler and artist just venturing into retail. I’ve always loved making things, building and creating. Incorporating art into my life in some way has always been essential to my happiness. Over the years, it has spanned from photography and sewing, renovating home spaces and designing our garden, crafting with my kids to finally, working with metals and enamels. Much of my craft is self taught with guidance from a few metal arts classes at City College of San Francisco. The name CuAgMire comes from combining the chemical symbols for Copper (Cu) and Silver (Ag); the two main metals that I work with. My CuAgMire pieces are all hand fabricated using traditional techniques and materials. I use saws, files, hammers, etc. to cut and work the metals into their given shape. I solder using a torch and fire my glass enamels with either a torch or a kiln. I prefer simple designs and techniques with a tie to the natural world, drawing inspiration from my background in botany and love of the outdoors. All pieces are crafted by hand in my backyard studio in San Francisco with the occasional piece made during my hometown visits to Nevada City, California. Wish me luck in this new venture!
