What is enamel? Enamel as I use it, is either a fine powdered glass sifted onto copper then kiln fired or a mixture of fine powdered glass, clay and water painted onto copper then kiln fired. in a nutshell, enamel is melted glass that adheres to its base metal when fired to high temperature. These earrings use both types of enamel.
